KU-ZJNU Faculty Development Program

The University of Kansas is pleased host a six-month intensive faculty development program and English language immersion experience for mid-career and senior faculty from Zhejiang Normal University. The program is designed and administered by KU with the assistance of Washburn University. Through both structured, guided and self-guided program activities and through cultural programs and extra-curricular activities, the program will provide a variety of experiences and opportunities to (1) broaden their theoretical and practical foundations as teaching professors in their particular disciplines, and (2) strengthen their English language proficiency primarily in relation to their academic areas of expertise and secondarily in relation to their general facility in the language.  Lectures, seminars, classroom observations, facilitated discussions, readings, and capstone projects will broaden participant awareness of contemporary western approaches to university level instruction in the disciplines and build knowledge of contemporary instructional strategies grounded in recent research related to effective teaching.
